Things (I did nothing worthwhile today)
I first got command and conquer: Generals for hannukkah in 2003. After a series of mishaps, I installed it today, and played it.
It's terrible.
1. the gameplay is bad: left click moves or tells your troops to attack. To select something new (in any other game, it would be left clicking), you have to right click somewhere on the screen (if you do it on the minimap, it doesn't work), then left click on the unit you want to select. That is the one example I have for you, there are others.
2. Gameplay is slow: everything moves very, very slowly. you can't speed it up. There are long, uninteresting, uninformative cut scenes, which cannot be skipped, no matter how many times you've seen them.
3. Gameplay is stupid: Once, I had like 20 of my guys around the enemy barracks. I most games, they would attack it, seeing as it's an aggressive enemy building. They don't in this game, they'll just sit there. If one of your units is being shot at, the units around it won't come to it's aid in any way.
4. None of this is adjustable: I can't change the controls, I can't even find the screen that tells me what the hotkeys are.
5. The bright side: Once I started playing GLA, it was a little better. The music got better, too.
I went driving today, and somehow found Seaholm. I had always thought it was somewhere else. Learn something new everyday.
There was a donut related incident.
I miss law school people. I actually just miss everyone, but I clearly, consciously miss law school people.
I'm going on a dry run of the drive downtown tomorrow. I hope it works: I need to find a place to park for free, for 3 months, walking distance from where I work.
